About SleepSafe Beds
In 2000, SleepSafe Beds began developing a bed called the SleepSafe® Bed at the request of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). The OPWDD needed a bed that would prevent falls and entrapment for special needs individuals, particularly pediatric patients with physical and cognitive disabilities.
SleepSafe Beds approached the project with a fresh perspective, using their background in producing custom furniture to create a bed that was not only safe but also functional and beneficial to the user. They were the only company to resubmit their design with the modifications requested by the OPWDD and eventually got their product approved for use in OPWDD facilities.
